Design Disclaimer
Last updated: 08/09/2026
Please read this carefully. It explains the limits of what HEW Design provides, and what you need to handle yourself.
1. We Provide Design Plans Only
HEW Design provides interior design concepts, space plans, layout recommendations, and product suggestions. That is the entirety of what we deliver.
2. We Are Not Licensed Architects, Engineers, or Contractors
HEW Design is not a licensed architecture, engineering, or general contracting firm. Nothing we provide should be treated as architectural, engineering, structural, or construction advice.
We do not provide, and our deliverables must not be relied on for:
- Structural assessment or load-bearing determinations.
- Electrical, plumbing, gas, or HVAC design or specification.
- Building code, zoning, or fire-safety compliance.
- Permit drawings, permit applications, or construction documents.
- Accessibility or ADA compliance certification.
- Environmental, mold, asbestos, lead, or air-quality assessment.
Our floor plans and elevations are design tools intended to communicate layout and intent. They are not construction documents and are not suitable for submission to a building department or for use by a contractor as build documents.
References to "design" or "designer" in our materials describe the service we provide. They are not a representation that HEW Design or its personnel hold a professional license or certification in interior design, architecture, or engineering, except where we expressly state otherwise.
3. Hire Licensed Professionals for Physical Work
Before making any structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or permanent change suggested or implied by our designs, you must engage appropriately licensed and insured professionals to assess feasibility, safety, and code compliance, and to perform the work.
A licensed professional's assessment controls over anything in our design. If a contractor, engineer, or inspector tells you something in our plan cannot or should not be done, follow their guidance.
4. Measurements Are Yours to Verify
Our plans are drawn from measurements and information you supply. We do not visit or measure your space.
You are responsible for verifying all measurements — of the space and of every product — before purchasing anything, cutting anything, or beginning any work. Measure doorways, stairwells, elevators, and hallways to confirm that furniture can physically be delivered into the room.
HEW Design is not responsible for items that do not fit, cannot be delivered, or do not work in the space.
5. Products, Pricing, and Availability
Product recommendations are suggestions only. We do not sell them, stock them, or control them. Prices, availability, lead times, specifications, and quality are set by the retailer and change frequently. Any purchase you make is a contract between you and that retailer, governed by their terms, returns policy, and warranty.
We take no commission or affiliate revenue on anything we recommend.
6. Color, Finish, and Visual Representation
Colors, textures, finishes, and materials shown in mood boards, renderings, and digital images are representations only. Screen calibration, lighting, and manufacturing variation all affect real-world appearance.
Always obtain physical samples and test paint colors in your own space, in your own light, before committing to a purchase or an application.
Renderings and 3D visuals are artistic impressions intended to convey design intent. They are not photographs of a guaranteed outcome and may differ from the finished space.
7. Rentals, HOAs, and Buildings with Rules
If you rent, or your property is subject to an HOA, condo board, historic designation, or landlord restrictions, it is your responsibility to obtain any required approvals before making changes. Some suggestions in our designs may not be permitted under your lease or association rules.
8. Results
Interior design is a matter of judgment and taste. We bring professional skill to it, but we cannot guarantee a particular aesthetic outcome, a particular feeling, a resale-value increase, or that you will love every recommendation.
9. Safety
Follow manufacturer instructions for assembly, anchoring, and installation. Anchor tall or heavy furniture to walls, particularly in homes with children or pets. Do not block egress routes, windows, vents, or electrical panels. If our layout appears to conflict with a safety requirement, the safety requirement controls.
10. Assumption of Risk
If you choose to make a structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or other physical change suggested or implied by our designs, you do so at your own risk and assume responsibility for evaluating and accepting the risks involved, including risks to safety, structural integrity, and property value — subject always to your obligation under Section 3 to engage licensed professionals for that work.
11. Relationship to the Terms & Conditions
This Disclaimer forms part of, and should be read together with, the Terms & Conditions of Service, including its Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law provisions.
12. Acknowledgement
By purchasing a HEW Design service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this disclaimer, and that you accept responsibility for verification, permitting, and engagement of licensed professionals as described above.
